A letter from the Membership VP
Hi, Potential New Members!
My name is Sydney Neal, and I’m serving as the Membership Vice President for the Delta Nu chapter of Gamma Phi Beta! I joined the chapter in the Fall of 2017. The biggest part of my job is organizing our recruitment events, where we look to bring new women into our sisterhood. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be in a sorority, but I really didn’t know what it would be like to be in one or what I would get out of it. When I talked to the women of Gamma Phi Beta during formal recruitment, I felt at home. More importantly, I was sure I would fit in with these women, and I felt that they wanted me to be one of them.
Gamma Phi Beta is all about building strong women. The women of this chapter live this value daily. The more that I involved myself with the chapter and the more women I met, the more I was pushed, shaped, and encouraged into the woman I am today. I’m sure, during the next two years in the chapter, this trend will continue. The women you meet in your sorority experience are there for you during the best and worst times of your life. They celebrate with you when you are accepted into your program or when you get a new internship or job, but they’re also there for you when you don’t.
What I hope you get out of this is that a sorority is so much more than a club you join for the four years you’re in college. It’s cheesy because everyone says, “We’re sisters for life and my sisters are always there for me, it’s the best!” They’re not wrong, though. Once I found the chapter for me, I made connections with so many people that are so much more strong and special than I could have ever believed. I hope that you, too, will find that same feeling in a chapter.
Best,
Sydney Neal
